Youth Leadership Crowdfund
We are excited about a new Art & Social Media project, which is part of CARECEN’s Youth Leadership Program. These youth leaders are learning how to use digital art media, video, and traditional techniques in order to develop content that will be distributed through social media. These skills will be used to create digital organizing campaigns that enhance CARECEN’s community-led advocacy efforts.
This year’s project will focus on two key efforts: 1) day laborers and how to strengthen their day labor center and 2) permanent residency for people protected under TPS (Temporary Protective Status).
The Youth Leadership Program is an eight-month training program that helps young people develop their organizing skills and establish a tradition of civic engagement. The participants are youth between the ages of 12 and 17. They will be introduced to topics such as Central American history, social movements in the U.S., immigration politics, cultural education, and the power of art in movement building.
These young leaders are proactive in their efforts to create change and strengthen their community. But we need your help to ensure that CARECEN can continue to support young people who are looking for ways to get involved.
Will you join us in making a change in our community by helping us reach our $12,000 goal to continue our Youth Leadership Program? Every contribution helps!
