With your generous donations, CARECEN proudly supports the collectives and organizations on the frontlines who are continuously supporting our brothers and sisters during this humanitarian crisis. The redistribution of the funds collected will be going to two shelters:
The first portion of the proceeds donated will be going towards Enclave Caracol, an antonymous, inclusive community space in Central Tijuana. This community center has been instrumental in providing emergency and long-term support to migrants and refugees. They host “Food Not Bombs” a social project that provides free meals 3 times a day to refugees and deportees, a donation distribution center and medical attention. Your monetary donations are currently helping us support their work!
Another portion of the proceeds collected will be going to Casa Y. This shelter in Tijuana provides safe housing, protection, meals, medical and legal attention and programming for unaccompanied migrant children. Since its opening in 1995, the shelter has worked specifically with youth. However, with the influx of unaccompanied minors, Casa Y has housed thousands of youth in the last two years alone. The shelter relies on the kindness and generosity of supporters as it continues its mission to serve as a safe haven for this vulnerable population.
Please note we will also allocate a portion of the proceeds to an emergency fund that will purchase immediate necessities, such as food, tents, and other supplies.
